IMD 3901 Term Project - Blog Post 2
Introduction
Welcome to the second blog post for the IMD3901 Term Project! This post will cover the beginning stages of my team's work over the past week, including our visit to ArtEngine on Wednesday, to introduce the full scope of the project to the class.
Challenges
The biggest challenge was mainly finding a time for the group to meet to discuss our introductory ideas for the project, but we all eventually found a time to meet, and we brainstormed some general ideas. Another challenge was thinking about the term project in general, as a couple of assignments took up most of my thinking and studying time this week. With more free time I would have jotted down some more ideas and thought more about how to approach this project.
Successes
I thought our group meeting went very well, and was a big success. We all got together, talked about the trip to ArtEngine, ideas that came to our head while there, and how we could incorporate all of our ideas into a coherent project. We eventually settled on a first draft of a plan idea, which takes elements of real life art galleries, escape rooms, and fully immersive scenes that the user can enter into when interacting with the artworks that appear in the gallery. In talking with the group, we felt that this could be not only achievable, but something that draws on so many different elements that can all come together to make a fully immersive, engaging, VR experience for the user. Another success was the ArtEngine trip in general. Hearing from ArtEngine and touring the building gave me some initial ideas of how to effectively collaborate with them for this project.
Time Spent on the Project
I did not spend much time on the project this week, but still took time to get together ideas, meet with the group, and travel to ArtEngine for Wednesday's class. I would estimate that in all that, I spent around 2-3 hours focusing solely on the term project this week.
